چکیده

This paper presents a policy-supported architecture for adaptable service systems based on the combination of Reasoning Machines and Extended Finite State Machines. Policies are introduced to obtain flexibility with respect to specification and execution of adaptation mechanisms. The presented architecture covers two aspects: service system framework and adaptation mechanisms. The service system framework is a general framework for capability management. Adaptation mechanisms are needed for autonomous adaptation. The adaptation mechanisms can be based on static or dynamic policy systems. Capability management for of a simple music video-on demand service system with runtime simulation results based on the proposed architecture is presented.

Towards context-adaptable Web service policies

We propose in this paper a new approach to achieve highly adaptable Web services through context-adaptable Web service policies. A Web service policy is a set of rules that defines the capabilities and requirements of a Web service as well as governs the runtime behavior, quality and result of the Web service. Our Web service policies are superbly adaptable in the sense that we specify context ...

Towards Adaptable and Adaptive Policy-Free Middleware

We believe that to fully support adaptive distributed applications, middleware must itself be adaptable, adaptive and policy-free. In this paper we present a new language-independent adaptable and adaptive policy framework suitable for integration in a wide variety of middleware systems. This framework facilitates the construction of adaptive distributed applications. The framework addresses ad...

On Combining WS-Policy4MASC and ASF to Support Business-Driven Autonomic Service-Oriented Computing

WS-Policy4MASC is an XML language for specification of policies for run-time Web service management. Among its original contributions is specification of diverse business values (e.g., profit, customer satisfaction) and control strategies maximizing different business values. While it was originally developed for the MASC (Manageable and Adaptable Service Compositions) middleware, it can also b...
